Ms. Esty, is the corporate attorney for ETV Global, Intellectual property and corporate law
advisor. Ms. Esty, who worked with Dr. Levy since 1997, oversees and supervises diverse IP practices
that include IP litigation, licensing, counseling, patent and trademark prosecution.
A licensed patent attorney, Ms. Esty is the
Chair of the State Bar of California’s Intellectual Property Section Executive Committee. She
is also past co-editor for the New Matter publication of the section, and helps in the planning of the IP Section’s
yearly events. Ms. Esty served as the Chair of the Commercial Litigation Section of the Association of Trial Lawyers
of America, and has served as the Membership Chair of the Patent Lawyers Club of Washington. She is also a member of the
ABA and the Licensing Executive Society.
Ms. Esty worked for Walt Disney Imagineering, Research and Development
Division on leading edge technologies including polymer chemistry, materials science, environmental
science, electronics, and computer science and ride systems. She later returned to private practice
and now focuses on the representation of companies in life sciences, health care, information technology,
telecommunications, electronics, medical products, environmental, and other industries.
Ms. Esty counsels her clients on intellectual property and technology issues, and is responsible
for complex litigation as well as transactional matters for her clients. She manages and litigates complex civil IP matters
in federal and state courts on behalf of public and privately-held companies. Ms. Esty also represents
clients in administrative proceedings before state, federal and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities
have included such matters as litigation of patent infringement cases in various technology areas, the
acquisition of a large computer company from its parent, licensing of computer software and hardware
systems, drafting of joint research and development agreements for pharmaceutical companies, and counseling
businesses on a variety of e-Commerce issues.
Esty received her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Ms.
Esty graduated from University of Maryland School of Law. After law school, she earned her Masters in
Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1994, and has substantially completed her masters
in Computer Science program at University of Illinois at Chicago.
Ms. Esty is the author of several articles and speaks often as well. Most recently, she
spoke at the IP Litigation Issues for In-House Counsel Seminar in May, 2006 in San Jose, California.
